Childern are vampires in Leinster

From the Sunday Independent.
Protest groups are being formed as a growing body of residents fear the power lines will run too close to homes and schools, endangering health by exposing them to electro-magnetic radiation.
Electro-magnetic radiation sounds scary doesn’t it. Yes it does. And every day we in Ireland are getting exposed to it day in and day out. Kids are also getting exposed to it for almost all times of the day. Right now you are getting exposed to electro-magnetic radiation. How do I know this? Because you can see this. Yes Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation from about 300 nm to 800nm in wavelength. This is a bit like to whole mobile phone masts thing again (all be it less crazy). There is very little research on this to prove a link leukaemia in children and power lines. The Cancer Research UK people say this.
Even if future research shows that EMFs from power lines can cause childhood leukaemia, they are unlikely to be a major cause of this disease. Less than 1% of UK children with leukaemia come from homes with the highest EMF levels.
Slightly less then 1% of kids also live near power lines also. Now it would be much better if these people The Sindo says.
The use of underground cables, which would eliminate this risk, is believed to have been ruled out as too expensive.
While burying the kids would also protect them from electro-magnetic radiation. Cancer Research UK says
The World Health Organisation has recommended that some precautions could be taken but the current evidence is not strong enough to warrant anything beyond very low cost measures.
So a much better idea would be to instead of spending money on burying cables on the off chance that this happens and spend the money on cancer research and care which would be money better spent.

The really crazy thing about mobile phones is that people reckon the solution is to have fewer masts which in turns means those remaining masts would be more powerful increasing the risk to those close to them and also boosting the signal from the phones that the little darlings are constantly carrying about their person and which they hold up to their heads.
The thing is that EMI dissipates at inverse square values, so being 2 feet away from a source gets you one quarter of the effect of being 1 foot away (inverse two squared). By the time you’re ten feet away, you’re only getting 1% of the effect (inverse ten squared).
If you’re at the bottom of an electrical pylon, you’re probably at least 50 feet (let’s be generous to the complainers) away from the line itself, so you’re getting just 1/250th the energy you’d be getting at one foot away.
Radio Hams and RTÉ engineers have been sitting close to much higher-power transmitters and antennae for years without any notable increase in cancer rates (or any other illness) for that matter. They’re dealing in hundreds and even thousands of watts, not the 0.25-2w in your normal mobile phone or 3-20w from a mast.
Good point Keith on RTE, then again has there been a rise in shite TV maybe there is a link. I forgot to add the link to my piece in on the inverse sqaure law. here. Basically what Keith said
