So where were those who did not vote.

Read more about: Bertiegate

Update all save Ned O’Keefe were excused.

Last night there was 8 people missing from the vote. You can see the list of the voters in the no confidence motion last night. The following did not vote.

Barry Andrews FF , Seamus Brennan FF , Pat Gallagher FF, Michael P Kitt FF, Ned O’Keefe FF, Dick Roche FF, Micheal Martin. FF John McGuinness FF.

Seamus Brennan took questions after the motion at about 10 O’Clock so was he actually in the building and did not vote? Certainly had no reason not to be there.

No idea where Barry Andrews was no record in the Dail, but remember he tried to form a back bench committee to challenge government policy in 2006.

Pat “the Coop” Gallagher was in the building earlier in the day and did not vote.

Michael Kitt was in Mozambique which is fair enough.

Ned O’Keefe no idea no record of being in the Dail.

Dick Roche No idea no record of being in the Dail.

Michael Martin. Also took questions yesterday and was in the Dail.

John McGuinness was in Russia

Interesting list. Two, Kitt and McGuinness have valid reasons for not being there, so why were the others not there Do some of them doubt Bertie’s answers? With people annoyed at Brian Cowen’s anointment and proximity to Bertie will one of these maybe Martin, Breenan or Roche try something?

Martin, Gallagher and Brennan gave written replies - they weren’t in the House.

Barry Andrews was apparently out sick, and Ned O’Keefe was AWOL. I’ve no idea what Dick Roche was up to, but there were meetings in Brussels (the ones Mary Hanafin came back from), so it’s possible he was there (as Europe Minister).

Martin is in the US. I saw an ireland.com story late in the afternoon yesterday that said that FG would give pairs for absent ministers but then later in the evening that was apparently withdrawn so Hanafin had to come back. The only actual row apparently will be with O’Keefe but I think the bigger row is going to come from today’s Shannon vote.

More importantly FF TD’s didn’t seem to anxious to appear on the screen actively supporting their great leder. Thye only turned up in numbers when Biffo started his rant. A sign of waning support perhaps.

Who was it that made the supposed ‘gutter’ comments and why were they ‘gutter’ comments?
