HSE Hiring Freeze is “until December or January”, not September

This is according to people talking to Mulley from CUH. In addition to cutting back on cleaning in the hospital and charging staff for parking, the source says they are freezing hiring until December or January not September as implied by the HSE in their early October review.

In order to cut down on costs, the HSE are implementing the following in Cork University Hospital, according to a source in there:

* Contract cleaners are having their hours cut to save money. Cos we need less clean hospitals with MRSA rampant.
* Staff are going to be charged for parking now, when before it was free.
* The hiring freeze is til December or January, not September as has been stated.
* They are thinking of going back to a monthly pay system instead of a twoweekly system as they can let three people go then.

And this the same day as Drumm gets an €80,000 bonus?

Surely that bonus would have paid for a few extra staff here and there for the two months?

There goes the rollout of Breastcheck in November.

coupled with the scrapping of estimates John that rollout may well be hamstrung with little admission until Budget day. If it is the case, though the HSE seem to have some measure of cop on and must know that Breastcheck needs to remain funded, the political shitstorm it generates would be huge.
