Why can’t the government do something?

Read more about: Uncategorized

I’ve been meaning to do something like this for a while, but was concerned about the overhead involved. Then this morning in the space on hour I heard 3 stories from government party members all calling on the government to do something! So this is for them - Why can’t the government do something?

You can add comments or mail stories you come across whether in the national or local press. The idea is to have a one stop shop for all those issues that public reps raise is if they were powerless to effect any change and then actually proceed to do nothing about.

There are other more formal sites in other countries like this one in the UK and a whole bundle in the US. This is not going to be as formal as all that. You will need to have a link to the story or a scan or it (post it to your flickr account, and we can link it).

And yes, I think if there is a change of government that the site should continue no matter who is in power.

what about the picture of some government ministers in todays i times ?

they were launching a booklet on affordable housing - but there isnt any.

The book is to explain the idea of affordable housing for those who aspire to purchase affordable housing but it doesnt exist in any numbers - so its obviously to help you dream about it

it is the business of the local authority not central government to produce such housing but the government are posturing and pretending that we are on the brink of seeing it …… is it hallo’een yet?

when noel ahern was asked this morning on newstalk 106 where are the 10,000 affordable houses he had spoken about in the past he blubbered and said there was no time span laid down for that ……..right and thats what most of us thought …. more horse manure …. useful for the garden …. but not much else……

why cant the government do something ? well if its developers you want them to influnce
    - i dont think so………

what kind of clowns do they take us for ?

ive looked at the picture in the irish times today again
i cant believe it but the prime minister, his brother a junior minister, dick roche min for the environment and des geraghty a former head of siptu all together and on the same day launched a booklet on affordble housing

do you know any other prime minister who would be involved in such a matter ?

its all about photo shoots now and not much else………

Well, she is party leader so I suppose she can make comments on any issues she likes. One strange thing though was the head of the Road Safely Authority talking recently about new legalisation that would be introduced, surely it is the minister who should talk about prospective legalisation and especially do so in the Dail where it can be examined rather than the heads of government quangos who seem to be accountable to no one.
