Low tax survives to fight another day.

Seems the Green party have come to their senses. From the Irish Examiner

Up to this year, the Greens had advocated raising corporation tax from the existing 12.5% rate to 15%.

————-

The Greens changed the policy at their annual convention this year and now propose no increase in corporation tax.

The reason why? Is the reason why most other parties have been saying “no new taxes”

Mr Sargent said the Greens had availed of the Department of Finance service whereby proposals are costed for opposition parties.

“We’ve done a lot of costings and worked with the Department of Finance — which is available to every party — and the prospect of raising corporation tax would not deliver any significant revenue in the overall scheme of things,” he said.

I have to wonder now what do the greens have against FF and PD’s now that they don’t have against FG? Is a FF Green aliance becoming closer.

Is a FF-Green aliance coming closer?

Not if they want to maintain any credibility. Just as happened with the PDs, going into coalition with FF would do nothing but taint them with FF’s lack of firm conviction. Sargent knows that, and that’s why it’s very doubtful they’d ever go near FF. Bizarre though it sounds, there’s more chance of an FG-PD-Green coalition than an FF-Green one.
