Election in Full Swing/North Tipp Review

The Nenagh Guardian feels the continued profile of our politicians despite the summer recess signals the kick-off of the campaign proper and also gives a fairly handy look at the state of affairs in North Tipp. “Certainly the election fire is being fuelled dramatically in North Tipperary. Consider three strong sitting candidates, two of whom have held ministerial posts; two challengers who are members of the Dail’s Upper House; an up-and-coming candidate, rejected by Fianna Fail and having such support locally as to make him a real threat; and finally, a Sinn Fein candidate who is not afraid to speak his mind and who enjoys quite a profile as a result. It all adds up to an intriguing time ahead and an end result that, at present, is about as difficult to call as could be imagined.”
