I wonder what it will take to persuade headline writers that people are not receiving a “windfall” - an “unexpected bonus”. Could there be anything less unexpected than SSIA’s maturing after years of saving?
I’m sort of interested to see the effects of the maturing SSIAs on the economy. Will sudden access to thousands of euros of their money combined with an extra €500 a month cause a meltdown or support economic growth for another few years?
