Gormley thinks he has lost it

John Gormley has a trait of posting that he’s going to lose an election due to ’safe seat syndrome’. The Green Leadership election is no different it seems. Coming home to canvass after a meeting in Brussels, he discovers most members have voted already and have voted for his opponent Patricia McKenna. He predicts Patricia for leader on Tuesday. You read it here and there first!

Hey, whatever works!
I don’t know though. I’d have thought he was a shoo-in…
John is a bit paranoid and delusional in relation to elections. After all those run-ins with McDowell I suppose it’s understandable. He’ll do or say just about anything to win votes (see, for example, my July 7th comments here: http://www.politics.ie/viewtopic.php?t=23757&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=96).
Patricia’s canvass video (for this leadership election) on YouTube has received very few hits…
There really is nothing worse than “safe-seat-syndrome” in elections. It’s been used more and more now as well, so I can see why John would be concerned. I do think he’ll make it though; the Greens received such an overwhelming vote of their members to go into Government, I can’t see them then electing a leader from the “fringe” of the party.
Well, nobody believed him the last time, although he was ultimately proved correct. Maybe we are looking at a McKenna leadership, or at least a closer-than-expected result. I’m certainly not one of those voting for her.
soubresauts, paranoid and delusional? I suppose you’d know.
I’m rather fond of John Gormley, knowing him a bit…
Interesting guy, who knows his Andre Gorz…
