Spain Ratifies Lisbon Treaty

By a landslide in the Spanish Parliament, Lisbon was ratified today in Spain.

322-6 was the final vote with 2 abstentions.

    Actually, the lower house approved the Lisbon Treaty, which now moves to the Senate.

    Incidentally, Spain and Luxembourg voted Yes on the Constitutional Treaty in referenda. In spite of the Lisbon Treaty being somewhat weaker, Spain will probably stomach the disappointment without too much trouble.

    thanks for that Ralf, didnt realise it hadnt passed both houses. Your right tho - it was never going to fail to ratify in spain. It is probably the safest of safe deals.

    Still it continues the pressure to ease the clear logical disconnect of futher ratification and failure to ratify in ireland.

    The PP who dominate the senate are quite pro EU so it will pass quite soon. It is a done deal here.
