French find another scape goat

After their attempt last week to paint the lisbon no vote as an anti-abortion vote. The French have changed tacit. This time they are taking the Indymedia line

France’s Europe minister, Jean-Pierre Jouyet, has said that Europe has enemies in Washington, suggesting that neo-conservatives played a significant role in the Irish rejection of the Lisbon treaty earlier this month.

French daily Le Monde reports Mr Jouyet as saying that “Europe has powerful enemies on the other side of the Atlantic, gifted with considerable financial means. The role of American neo-conservatives was very important in the victory of the No.”

I guess if all else fails pull a Jim Corr and bring out the global conspircy. Blame Bush and the neo-conservatives that will go down well with the Le Monde readers.

Problem is they seem to be trying to grasp a reason why it failed. One that does not effect the French voters. Trying to spin it as anti-abortion or in this case neo-con conspiricy anything to take away from the fact that the second most positive Europeans voted no and if we can vote no, not based on any crazy reasons or  polish plumbers what would the rest of Europe do? Continuing to ignore the real reasons puts the answer further away.
