So my constituency of Dublin North West has not one, but two Ministers of State!

What does the “additional appointments” mean? Does it mean that the individual has a brief in two areas, across two departments?

Don’t forget Tom Kitt, T.D. as Chief Whip, Dick Roche, T.D. as Minister for European Affairs and Brendan Smith, T.D. to be Minister of State with responsibility for Children

Actually only in Ireland could a Brendan Smith be appointed minister for Children under a Fianna Fail Government.

Adam: yes. In fact some poor souls are spread across three departments.

Cian flexes his muscle. We’ll see if Bertie does his bidding. :)

Is it ever anything but “jobs for the boys”? Its not like FF have a depth of policy competence in the rank of their elected hoarde.

you would be amazed at the power bloggers exercise, blatant cutting and pasting noted.

Lenihan’s new job… “kebabs” anyone? Jobs for the boys indeed.

Anyone surprised that Martin Manseragh was left out?

Integration Policy - Conor Lenihan, T.D.

This from the man who told Joe Higgins to “stick with the kebabs”. Disgraceful.

With reference to the above, I meant “This for the man”, of course.

Great to know that we now have a junior minister for “innovation policy”. An easy €147,284 if you can get it And Is it really necessary to have a different junior minister for”Food Safety” and ” Food and Horticulture”. Surely a little whipper snapper like Trevor Sargeant could handled both. And ofcourse no one should forget Sean Haughey’s important crucial junior ministry for “Life Long Learning”.
This Government is a fucking disgrace and its only been in office a wet weekend.

Has anybody added up how much this extra lot will cost the taxpayer, annually, allowing for expenses etc.

And unlikely that any opposition will oppose.

Turkeys don’t vote for Christmas is very relevant here.

At a time when Nicholas Sarcozy, President of France, has halved his Cabinet, it says a lot for Ahern’s incompetence and total unsuitability to lead a country.

However, I have a feeling that De Bert may be contemplating handing over to Biffo in the near future.

    Why do I think this?

Mostly because of his body language, immediately after the results had been posted. He just wanted the kudos of a third successive term. His huge vanity has now been satisfied and he can take it easy and leave Biffo in charge.

He will probably continue to act as Ireland’s, de facto, Foreign Minister, a cushy number with lots of foreign travel for him and whichever mistress is favoured for the term, leaving Dermot to move.

I expect Cullen to be put out to grass, and not before time.
Whatever, I can’t see Biffo retaining such a liability in his Cabinet.

I also think Ahearn is preparing for the hand over in the very near future.
He has so publicly annointed Cowen and I am sure there is more to it than keeping him quiet.
A lap of (dis)honour up at the Castle with the Mahon tribunal is all that remains to be done.
He could easily be gone in a few weeks.
