Web Roundup Day….What day is it again?

Read more about: Web Roundup

Suzy steals the show atop our web roundup. Her interview with Radio 5 Live’s pods and blogs slot was almost like a meta-roundup. Great stuff and great listening.

To matters electoral. Eastmeath blog has some pertinent questions for any voter in the region preparing to vote. Most of those questions apply elsewhere, I reckon.

Spokesman for the oppsition has good news for government. The blog predicts 3 FF seats in Carlow-Kilkenny tomorrow.

It is make your mind up time and politician-bloggers are out in force exhorting you to vote. And vote for them/their candidate. Cllr Sean O hArgain was first off the mark, aside from the wonderful insight into the dietary makeup of an election canvasser we are also told to get out and ‘make the change‘. His party colleague Eric Byrne makes the point that; “Burma. South Korea. Zimbabwe. Sudan. Saudi Arabia. Libya. Pakistan. Turkmenistan. Equatorial Guinea.” are all countries that deny their people the same rights we enjoy tomorrow.

AJ didn’t have a blackout, he had a pre-election video. Elsewhere in Meath, Noel is nervous, his campaigners need some reminding it isn’t over yet, and you won’t get much tomorrow.

Swearing Lady had her subversive brothers on for a chat about the election. What emerged was a very interesting piece on the role of Sinn Fein, concluding; “So when, if ever, should we accept their background as a party of violent protest? When should we move on? A sizeable portion of the population has done so already, if Sinn Fein’s opinion poll results are to be believed.” Karole was also tying some thoughts together today before the vote tomorrow. It is all getting so serious now.

Twenty puts his major on the table, they are all cunts and next week cant come soon enough. Some cartoons in the meantime though.

I read Gerry’s blog regularly, some great stuff on there. His piece on how he will vote and why, is a model of deliberative citizenship. His choice is almost irrelevant, lost in good practice of deciding who to vote for. It is a pity we only get a say every five years.

Niall reflects on the main reasons why Fiannna Fail are going to be re-elected tomorrow. They are very convincing, and I encourage you to read them, but perhaps the most interesting point is “You know, the odd thing about Irish politics is that in every recent election, the vast majority come out in support of either Fine Gael or Fianna Fail, two parties with almost identical policies, yet it is the smaller parties that decide which direction the government takes. This time around, all parties, big and small seem to agree on the general direction Ireland should take, so come Judgement Day, should we really care? Does it make a difference whether we get Gog or Magog? Both sides promised the same treasures, but do we actually believe that they’ll meet their promises?

Morgan looks on from Australia and thinks the shinners have got it right on housing. It isn’t stamp duty, it is affordability. Chris Gaskin reckons that the story of this election will be the rise of Sinn Fein.

Finally, for some Green Ink goodness. Norma Foley got a bit of the photoshoppage treatment. It is the haircut election after all.
