Web round up Day 13…be afraid…oh don’t be that afraid…

Instead of running a one woman campaign for the re-nationalisation of NTL (formerly Cablelink, formerly something else state owned) I have given up waiting for the man from NTL to come and fix my television and broadband and headed to the local net cafe to bring you the latest dose of electoral blogathon that is Election ‘07 - let’s face it no other Election is going to be like this election now is it?
Firstly kudos to the award winning women behind Beaut.ie who have decided to get in on with their special brand of advice and commentary on the state of the candidates. Yesterday’s launch post had commenters posting pics of their local man or woman in need of a make over. Today Paul Gogarty (Green- Dublin MidWest) got the treatment. Now if ye could pick Jackie Healy Rae for your next hints and tips and product recommendation women I’m sure we’d all be most grateful. What cream does one apply for the ruddy cheek or roseacea I think they call it these days…
There seems to be a theme today in the ‘what do I do in my time off’ posts amongst some of our politicians, Joan Burton (Labour - Dublin West) walks in the rural part of her constituency of a Sunday with the Fingal Walkers, Eric Byrne (Labour - Dublin South Central) tells us about Growing Your Own, no not that type of your own…. But allotments and gardening and the like. Today’s Ticket has all the lads and lassies trying to look cool (Ok Bertie had Neil Diamond as his favourite album..not cool) and the resident IT hacks are analysing their choices.
If you have not visited The Hub, RTE’s Electoral archive then this weekend might be a great time to do so - there are great clips from campaigns of old, just pull down the decade you want and pick the clip and away you go. Ah if only a woman had broadband. So who was the heckler that interrupted the deputy leaders debate held on Newstalk earlier this evening? Am sure it will be podcasted!
Oh look Minister Dempsey has turned the comments back on. And we have pictures of himself and Rev. Paisley on his visit to the Boyne to boot! I thought I had found another Fianna Fáil blogging politician but alas it’s only Senator Michael Kitt blogging news letters and press releases. Liz McManus (Labour - Wicklow) has campaign team members blogging about their hospital experiences, here’s Ian (regular comment leaver here and on MP) talking about his visit to hospital last week and talking about the N11 (get well soon!!)
On the non politician blogging front, Work at Home Dad thinks that the Alliance for Change or the Rainbow will be better for satay at home parents, well at the moment that’s what he thinks! Irish Eagle can spot Fianna fail canvassers at 20 paces and he chews them up and spits them out for fun too it seems. Eoin updates us on RTE’s response to his campaign for open access to video footage of campaign debates.
And now I return to the land without broadband hoping that maybe I can nick a bit of wireless from the B&B across the road later on (oh is that legal?) Eh…..More on Sunday - Which politician will have us all up early this Sunday morning?
Irish Election are pleased to announce our collection of Irish
Thanks MP
