Victory of Parish pump policy

Read more about: Fianna Fail, Fine Gael

With all the talk of the squeeze on the smaller parties people seem to be missing the squeeze on the independents. The reason e’tre off independents is to pimp out their constiuencies. They can only do that if they have the support of a government. But since 2002 they have not had the chance to do this. It seems that the big parties are winning these seats because they have the councillor structure to work on the ground and work on the small issues. They have lost 4.9% vote share. This is the reason that FF and FG are rebounding not the debate, not people talking about the economy . All politics is local people.

Perhaps Mr Ml Lowry will hold the balance of power. He says he is ready to do business…………………

I think people are starting to realise that Independants are unable to influence affairs as much as deputies alligned to a party, when Independant Fianna Fail was around at least the majority of them were alligned together and had collective influence but the days of Independants are semingly over.
