Tommy Broughan attacks Pat Rabbitte

Read more about: Irish Election, Irish Politics, Labour Party

Rabbitte has failed in his strategy. Doesnt support coalition with FF. As a result of independent course in 2002 we were not far behind FG. Now very far behind FG and the idea of being second party is gone. Looks like a long time for Pat.

Costello agreed that the policy didnt work out. (One contributor notes that policy=leadership)

Have to agree. Mistake to go into pact before election. Major problems with real Labour supporters over it. “might as well vote for Fine Gael” one said. Rabbitte in untenable position. Not Berties head being looked for if they want coalition. Rabbitte has led LAB to defeat and has moved Lab away from the left. Just surprised that whole left vote didn’t come out in this election. Is there a ‘left’ left? Or is everyone too happy with their station?

Its a farce, when the labour party had a conference where they agreed to form an alliance with fine gael by a significant majority to start whining about it later. In north-central Derek mc Dowell wasnt seen in this part of Drumcondra - you have to be enthusiastic to win in politics and when youre not, you should get out.
I hear the Deasy fella is out of the trap already slagging off Enda Kenny -god help us all …

Well, I’m not entirely sure mollie thats exactly the way it is. This is people who disagreed with the strategy who remained loyal to the party simply expressing their disagreement with the strategy seeing as it has now comprehensively failed.
