I’m running as an independent. I’m philosophically attracted to the concept of natural law but I won’t be setting up a Natural Law party anytime soon.Q. What made you first believe that there was more to 9/11 then meet the eye?In January 2005 I saw photographs taken at the Pentagon on 9/11 for the first time i.e. 3 ½ years after the event. These show a small hole in the side of the building approx 15 ft across before the façade of the building collapsed approx 35 mins after ‘impact.’ See:

Q. What do you believe is the 3 most damning pieces of evidence in favour of 9/11 conspiracy theory?

Just before I list these, a word on ‘conspiracy theories.’ The official government story is a ‘conspiracy theory’ because they never provided any proof that the event was caused by the 19 named men. None. In no particular order:

1) Pentagon photographs,
2) Collapse of WTC7,
3) Collapse of WTC1 & WTC2 at freefall speed.

Q. What do you think were the reasons for faking 9/11, and who had most to gain?

You could write a PhD on this. It is impossible to answer such a question succinctly because there were literally hundreds of motivations.

Q. Many people would dismiss your theories as a little cracked how, how would you respond to them and do you ever take it personally?

I’m getting better at dealing with the abuse. I don’t think I ever take it personally with people online because none of the people online know me from Adam. I have fallen out with people I would previously have called friends though, and indeed with members of my family. So be it.

Q. There has been some rebuttal of the conspiracy theories such as this article in Popular Mechanics , have any of these articles changed your mind on any aspects?

Well, my own beliefs are evolving all the time as I come across more and more information so it’s never a static situation. One never goes ‘I have it now.’ The article in Popular Mechanics was self rebutting however when you realise that the person who wrote it was the cousin of the Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff.

Q. One of your previous conferences in UCC was stopped due to treats from MI5. What was the deal with that? [Edit by Simon: The idea for this question came from an indymedia post the Irish Independent also had something]
There was never any threat from MI5. That was in somebody’s head. I booked the lecture room in June 2005. Then in September 2005 I asked for a meeting with General Services because I wanted to take security precautions seriously given that I was hosting the speakers. Long story short I had the Garda investigate me and eventually 19 days before the conference started they (UCC General Services) informed me of the decision to ban it on ‘security grounds’. I don’t think there is a conspiracy there but I just don’t know to this day what the real reasoning was, if it is fair to assume that they didn’t really expect MI5 to assassinate Shayler outside the Boole.

Q. Will you go to see United 93?

No. Not a cinema goer anyway, but I certainly won’t give what little cash I have to subsidise the neo-con propaganda budget.

Q. On the 9/11 truth.ie website it is stated “May 2nd 2006 - On sending an article Robert Fisk “Seen through a Syrian lens, ‘unknown Americans’ are provoking civil war in Iraq” to our politicians email list this morning it quickly became apparent that all emails to members of the Oireachtas from this address (info@911truth.ie ) have been blocked, supposedly on the grounds that ‘complaints of spam have been received by the administrator.’ Nobody has ever been refused to be removed from our mailing list, and only one politician has ever requested that in the past year. The only logical conclusion one is left with is that the email last week on the bird flu ‘find’ in Scotland by a bird flu team doing a ‘drill’ was a little close to the bone for some.”

Q. Do you think that Bird flu is another government conspiracy, if so what would be the reason for it and do you think that some politician might just think of such articles as spam?

I’ll deal with the latter part of the question first. I have been emailing Irish politicians for about a year now on this stuff. Only one politician has ever requested to be removed from our mailing list and he was removed immediately. If any politician thought we were spamming them at any stage all they had to do was unsubscribe.

The content of my emails is generally of a very high standard. To the extent that I am putting them into a book at the moment which I will release online in June and hopefully get published also. ‘Emails of a Justice Hungry Lecturer.’ (It’s my own little John B tribute). The bird flu stuff is answered separately at the bottom of this mail.

Q. Previously you tried to get DVD’s to RTE but you were escorted off the premises, do you think it was because they saw you as some kind of “nut” or do you think there was something more to it?

They couldn’t have seen me as a ‘nut’ because I was normally dressed standing in reception chatting to the receptionists and the security guards before some nameless executive came down and ordered me off the premises immediately. Even one of the security guards apologised to me for the person’s bizarre behaviour. Definitely something more than that.

Q. What is your opinion of the American army using Shannon and Ireland’s non-aligned military status?

Well, it’s an illegal war, so even if we wanted to support it by allowing the use of Shannon, international law precludes it. Even that is moot though because in Feb 2002 an Irish Times/MRBI poll asked if the US should be allowed use the airport without a second resolution and 79% of respondents said no. So even if it was legal the Irish people were overwhelmingly against it.

Q. Do you believe that you can get elected and what do you believe that you can do if you get elected?

Do I believe I can get elected? Not unless there is a major breakthrough in terms of public awareness and understanding of 9/11 in the next year. I’m running basically because over the past year every T.D. from North Kerry and Cork South Central has chosen to wilfully ignore my representations on this topic. I don’t believe it is acceptable that an elected politician can simply choose not to address such a serious issue. In fact, I believe it is reprehensible and I expect to hold them fully to account for this gross abrogation of their responsibilities in this regard.

Q. Outside of 9/11 truth movement where does your politics lie. Left/right liberal/conservative etc.

I don’t believe in this left/right wing dichotomy. The concept that you should approach public policy with a preordained and ever fixed belief system is laughable in my opinion. What we need to do is set out our objectives as a society before deciding what the best way to get there is using whatever tools we have at our disposal e.g. taxation. We agree on how much tax take is required and we raise it in the context of our other economic objectives. I laugh when I hear the PD’s say they are going to lower taxes regardless and how Labour are not going to raise taxes regardless. Tax policy should not be about the inclination of any given party at any given time.

In fact, I believe it should not be in the remit of T.D.’s at all. Let the politicians set out the objectives and let the experts set out how we are to reach those objectives given the parameters outlined. To illustrate, did you ever hear anybody talk about elasticity of corporate tax policy. Most of them wouldn’t know what it means. I guess I’m socially liberal.

Q. You have declared in Kerry North and Cork South Central what do you believe you can offer the electorate in those constituencies?

It’s very simple. I’ll keep my constituents informed. That may sound simple but I believe it is the bedrock of republicanism. Jefferson said that governments are republican to the extent that they ‘embody the will of the people.’ He added one important proviso however. That the public be informed. ’Because a misinformed public cannot be trusted with their own government.’ I’ll keep my constituents informed so that I know I really am embodying the will of the people. Otherwise you’re just throwing darts with the lights turned out. Yes, that is dangerous.

Q. What would happen if you got elected in both would you have to resign one seat, if so which would you drop?

I was wondering the same thing myself recently. I guess it has never happened. I don’t know truth be told.

Q. If you get elected and have the deciding vote between FF/PD and FG/Lab/Green what would decided the way you would vote?

The concept that at the formation of the next government I would commit my vote to either is abhorrent. Think of it this way. We elect candidates to the Dail every five years. As soon as they get into the Dail they join the ‘government’ or the ‘opposition.’ From this point on it seems to me that we might as well have robots sitting in the chamber because it really didn’t matter what they think as individuals about any given issue of the day, they must vote for the party line.

This situation is even more incredible given that you really can’t slip a rizla between any of the parties on economic or social policy. Seriously, it doesn’t matter in the least what any given individual feels about any given topic, he just does as he is told. Would somebody remind me again why we have political parties because I really don’t see their purpose? Unless that purpose is to fundamentally distort the expressed views of the electorate and/or provide a system of control to keep the establishment established. Would not a Dail with 166 independent T.D.s who were free to vote as their conscience dictated provide a much more representative form of government?

Q. Your background is in finance, if you were finance minister what would you do?

This is too wide to provide any succinct comprehensive answer here. One thing I won’t do however is tolerate a situation where a 30 year old single Irish male with a salary of €21,000 pays 22% tax and an Irish bank making a profit of €1.7 billion pays 12.5%. Maybe I’m crazy and all that but even if you raised tax on the banks by 20% what are they going to do – move the branches to Lithuania? And I’m familiar with EU law but don’t tell me for one minute there isn’t a way around this.

Q. Do you think that Bird flu is another government conspiracy?

Yes. The reasons for this are numerous but revolve around the fact that Donald Rumsfeld was CEO of the company that created Tamiflu and a member of its board of directors since 1988. (Would you buy a drug off Donald Rumsfeld? Well, we already have). I’m no expert on bird flu but when I read that the ‘discovery’ in Scotland recently was by a bird flu team ‘drilling’ the discovery of an infected bird I nearly fell off my stool. And finally we have the deaths of over one hundred scientists, mostly microbiologists, in the past decade, the number rising sharply since October 2001. What were these scientists able to do? Maybe blow the whistle if an artificially created disease was about to be used in a manner those who created it did not approve of?

On a matter entirely disconnected we noted recently that Donald Rumsfeld was Chairman of the company GILEAD that created the bird flu drug ‘Tamiflu’ that governments around the world are stockpiling. The US government is spending $2 billion on it. This is from the Irish Department of Health and Children website on January 20th last:

“The main treatment for pandemic influenza is antiviral drugs. Antivirals can shorten the duration of the disease and alleviate symptoms. They are not usually considered effective after 48 hours from the onset of illness. An emergency supply of over 45,000 treatment packs of antivirals (Tamiflu®) was purchased in 2004. A further 1 million treatment packs of antivirals (Tamiflu) are being stockpiled. This quantity is sufficient to treat 25% of the population. 600,000 packs have already been delivered. The remaining 400,000 packs will be delivered in 2006”.

“The producers of the anti-viral drug, Tamiflu, have said that tests on animals have shown the drug is an effective treatment for the deadly H5N1 strain of the bird flu virus if administered early. However, Roche said that more studies were needed into how much Tamiflu should be given in order to effectively combat the virus in humans. It comes a day after research published in the prominent medical journal, The Lancet, in which doctors said they had found no evidence that Tamiflu was effective against bird flu”.
