Mary White’s house attacked

Green Party Deputy Leader Cllr Mary White has condemned the shocking thuggery that took place at her home in the early hours of this morning. A car was set alight and burned at a gateway blocking the entrance to her house in Borris, County Carlow, between the hours of 1am and 4am.
This is not the first time she has been attacked I have heard her talk before about this. Seriously who does this kind of stuff.
Cllr White said: “Whoever was responsible for this mindless act of vandalism, drove to my home with the express intention of abandoning a car, burning it and blocking my gateway. I believe this was a blatant attempt at intimidation in the run-up to the general election. In a decent democracy the last thing we need is thuggery and anti social behaviour.
In fairness this is only going to benefit her campaign. And then if she gets elected as deputy leader of the greens maybe a ministry and then an armed Garda protection detail. Try burning cars then.
this is awful, mindless crazyness. Not the only story like that today either. An FG candidate was threatened by a 14 year old in Dublin it seems.
Hopefully Gardai get this sorted before the election so we can see who is behind it (group or individual) and why. Its not on in this day and age.
Shades of the Reichstag Fire ? Ah but I know and like Mary. Now, first of all the car was burned out at the old pillared entrance to her home, where there is a driveway up to her house, The Old Rectory, as the photos in the “Kilkenny People” clearly showed, so Mary would never have been in any danger. Secondly it was a clapped out little old banger, probably off the road and unaccounted for, yes, strangely unaccounted for ? Apparently the Gardai can’t trace it. Maybe the “car” was a home for chickens ? It certainly looked from the photo as if it were towed there and burned there. No, I don’t think Mary would do anything for publicity during an election campaign, do you ? The Reichstag Fire repeated ? As the Coroner would delare, an Open Verdict.
Not related to “Mary White’s car” ( I hope !) but the Carlow-Kilkenny Fianna Fail Dail Ceanntair ( who have been kept out of the election so far by John McGuinness, the likes of whose campaign has not been witnessed since Hitler rose to power) yesterday reiterated their call on Party loyalists across Carlow to Vote Number One for M.J. Nolan of Carlow so as to retain their three seats. Makes sense - but they’ll be purged in a Night of the Long Knives when John gets back !
