Around 900 first preferences for Cyprian Brady has turned into a Dail seat thanks to the massive transfer of Bertie. Is this a historic first?

It’s been that kind of election. Strange records all over the place. If this was e-voting we’d all assume the machines were broken

Nothing that strange in this election for an educated public!

Performance of Cyprian “Lazarus” Brady (aka MiniBertie) is NOT an historic first:

In the 1923 general election, in the Clare constituency (5 seats; quota = 6,575) the following 1st preference votes were recorded for candidates of the Republican Party:

Eamon de Valera = 17,762 (elected 1st count)
Frank Barrett = 482 (not elected)
Michael Comyn = 219 (not elected)
    Thomas V. Honan = 114 (not elected)
    Brian O’Higgins = 114 (elected 12th count)

    Other three winners were:
Professor Eoin Mac Néill (Cumann na nGaedheal
    Conor Hogan (Farmers Union)
    Patrick Hogan (Labour)
