A Citizen’s Manifesto for the Doorstep Challenge?

Read more about: Blogging, Grassroots, Irish Election, Irish Politics

The doorstep challenge has just been helped out by a very interesting idea over at William Wall’s website. I will let him introduce it;

“What do you say when perfectly nice people, who happen to represent a corrupt party, knock on your door?
I humbly propose the Citizen’s Manifesto, free to download in PDF format. I urge to you use it, or to invent your own.
The drill is simple: They give you their leaflets. You give them yours. It’s civilised. They are as likely to read yours as you are theirs. It’s symmetric.”

William’s one is available from his site here. I am sure some readers will take issue with its content so why not draw up your own and post it in the comments. You can covert a document to PDF for free online here or using open offfice.

Better yet, use it for the doorstep challenge and post the responses on youtube or email them to irishelection(at)gmail.com.

    I like the idea.

    Thanks Dan. What I want is for people to actually TELL them what we think. I know, I tend to nod like a donkey and crack jokes. I just don;t like offending people who knock on my door. It’s probably a peasant thing. And I suspect half the country is the same. Besides, if they take the manifesto back to the ‘debriefing session’ (as one doorstepper described it to me), then maybe it’ll filter upwards. Or just demoralise downwards!

    Interesting idea. might have to come up with my own. considering I disagree with about half what you say. Like as if neo-liberal economics is bad. It’s what makes this country work.

    The idea is that you come up with your own. As regards neo-liberal economics, it’s actually what has us screwed. You may not have noticed that the half of the points that you agreed with are also about neo-liberal economics. But, I don’t want to argue with you about that now. Let’s just tell the canvassers what we think, and give them something to take back to HQ. Let’s at least try to make them respond while we still have a chance. So, write your manifesto. Give it out. It could be a citizen’s uprising!
    Thanks for responding.
