The PD’s coming an independent

Read more about: Dublin South East, Progressive Democrats

The PD’s have always relied on the fact that they are strong in certain constituencies and not in others. But to their credit they avoided overtly being Jackie Healy Rae sticking to their free market credentials. Alas  with McDowell pulling a Healy Rae over the Poolbeg incinerator are they any different?

I think McDowell has now realised that there’s little or no chance of the PDs being in Government, so he’s free to promise whatever the hell he wants to maximise his chances of not being the only PD elected.

seconded and i think the same applies to SF promised viz a E10 minimum wage. They are looking to 2012 and will promise away. To be fair though, McDowell has a habit of dragging the major parties behind him in his bluster so the promises could be interesting from that point of view

It is McDowell’s Barrington’s Hospital moment for those familiar with the history of the PDs. Sending everyone a book with their complete history might not have been such a good idea now!
