Well fuck me with a broken snooker cue. Fine Gael have gone and surpassed themselves this time. It took me a while to recognise the 15ft face that stared at me from the Dalkey station billboard, but when I got home I realised that Fine Gael have bagged the man ‘with a lot of love to give,’ the American movie star of such hits as Fargo, Boogie nights, Magnolia, and, more recently, Wild hogs, the one and only, William H. Macy.
Willie is standing for election in Dun Laoghaire under the pseudonym of Eugene Regan, and we wish him all the goddamn best. God knows, having been cuckold, sacked, murdered, and shat upon in so many movies as to warrant his own personal genre in movie acting, William needs not only your votes, but the love that goes with it. Give it up, Ladies and Gentlemen, for the second best supporting actor in Hollywood today.
