Edit: We have begun a petition for a weekend poll. See irishelection.com/weekendvote/

From RTE, though you may have heard it here first, Bertie is in favour of a Thursday poll in the forthcoming election. He reiterated that the Dail would resume after the Easter break (suggesting a possible June election at this stage though Wagger’s timetable still looks possible and a May 17 election date).

In the RTE piece Ahern suggests that Friday voting doesn’t work the piece continues “Voting for the last General Election in 2002 was held on a Friday.”

Perhaps then Wagger is right again “With things on the jobs front not looking great, he won’t want the students voting, which is why Wagger is leaning towards a Thursday rather than a Friday.”

1/2 so far. Watch this space.
