And so the final one is upon us. This weekend is the Fine Gael Ard Fheis and as Enda takes to the stage, his is going to have to find that golden sink to throw at the voters. The Examiner tell us that he is going to outline the promises on Health, Crime and the Economy. Once we know these perhaps a nice little grid is in order to see who promised what.
Irish Election are pleased to announce our collection of Irish
Ah Cian a grid you say… My newly sharpened darts can hardly wait for the ink to dry!
The Grid might make interesting reading but more interesting will be to compare it with the eventual programme for government of whoever emerges.
Every party had stood up and said vote for us and we’ll give you the following. However no coalition has stood up and presented a unified set of proposals. No single party will win an overall majority (no matter how much Fianna Failures cross their fingers). Therefore come the stage of agreeing the programme for government all the proposals can be thrown out because in effect the parties can argue the voters rejected them. We’ll get some nods and winks in the direction of the promises but we will fall very far short.
Now if one party did somehow win an overall majority it would be comical to see the look on their faces as reality sets in after the initial euphoria.
