Callely got 1/2 of political donations in 2005. (Well he declared gross so the number is smaller after costs).
The Greens are on the Road to Power, slowly moderating its economic message and getting “realistic” while normalising social and economic policy-into Government with ye!!
Haughey still hanging on. A state funeral on his passing? Or can he be rehabilitated?
Growth up to 5.4%, feel good factor looming? With SSIAs coming on stream will the back pocket seal the next election like 2002?
Labour Conference is here. Why does it matter?

Page 11 of IT. Jim O’Callaghan has been added to the FF ticket for Dublin South East.
Mick,
You have your feet on the ground in Dublin SE. Who, in your opinion. is going to get more first preference votes — Chris Andrews or Jim O’Callaghan? And can Fianna Fáil rely on holding the seat which Eoin Ryan is vacating.
At the moment Chris Andrews would have to be favourite. He has been active in Dublin South East for about 7-8 years and has proven vote winning abilities.
Dublin South East will be an absolute dog fight. McDowell (PD), Quinn (L) and Gormley (GP) are established and competent national figures. Daithi Doolan is as hard working a vote seeker as anyone on the political scene and Fine Gael desperately want their seat back. Fianna Fáil will have to put in a huge performance to retain the seat but its inconceivable for the organisation that the seat could be lost.
Mick,
Thanks for your insights. Fine Gael will be very hungry to get back in there, and Lucinda Creighton’s face is familiar to the electorate from them seeing it on every lamp-post in Dublin 4 in the 2004 local elections.
She won a city council seat while Chris Andrews lost his.
I don’t believe Daithí Doolan will have enough momentum to take a seat, but he could affect the sequence in which eliiminations occur. Depending how the FF vote divides between the two candidates is it hypothetically possible that FF could be unseated in the constituency by FIne Gael, in your opinion.
Talking of http://www.eurotrib.com, I’d encourage people to sign-up and do summary diaries of the situation in the election here for a wider audience occasionally. Or I’ll just steal bits from here and post them up …
Thats a good idea, im sure some of the contributors might do that, if they dont, even if they do, feel free to pilfer.

Frank: in that case you’ll just have to cross-post yourself. I’m most likely to use short quotes and links anyway.
