Ned O Keeffe Back in Fianna Fail

Read more about: Fianna Fail, Health

Whats that old phrase? You can get more done on the inside than on the outside p**sing in. Well Ned is back in as of this evening, to much rapture and delight but no ministry for a while. Should this be taken as a vote of confidence in Minister Harney then?

Government Chief Whip and Minister of State, Mr Tom Kitt, TD, has confirmed that Deputy Ned O’Keeffe (Cork East) has been re-admitted to the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party.

At this evening’s parliamentary party meeting, the Chief Whip proposed a motion that the party whip be restored to Deputy O’Keeffe following a request from him seeking re-admission.

He had resigned the party whip last November.

The motion at tonight’s meeting was seconded by Deputy Noel Treacy (Galway East) and was unanimously agreed.

Minister Kitt informed the meeting that he had met with Deputy O’Keeffe and re-iterated to him the responsibility attached to parliamentary party membership.

The Chief Whip also said Deputy O’Keeffe was totally committed to the full disciplines of the party.

“We look forward to welcoming him back at next week’s meeting,” said Minister Kitt.

Considering how Bert and Ned aren’t friends anymore is there any significance to the timing of this considering the forgetful one is out on a jolly. Loose cannon Ned becomes Ned the first man to put his head above the parapet and take a pot-shot at the bert?

Ned has just learnt, thanks to Mahon, how much money is floating around in the coffers of the party. perhaps he has an aging aunt who needs help to buy a house!

Jer I wouldnt rule it out though it seems that any readmission would have to have Bertie’s approval. He has always been a big-tent man and tries to get as many of the gene pool back into the party as possible. I wouldnt rule out his coming to forgive Ned though, the man has a nose for survival and now safely on the backbenches can raise the head whenever it needs to be done.

@Gordon, he may not have an aunt but farms are expensive things these days!! :)
