Now I don’t know an awful lot about donations but something tells me that there is a limit of around 5,000 euro per person. Which means I guess no one could donate these cars as they would exceed this cost. So the cost of a BMW Series 1 is about €45,000 Euro. A Renault Megane about €21,000 a Ford Focus about €19,000 and a Renault Clio. (Cheapest one €16,400. And Peats will sell you a 42 inch HD TV for €1300 so 43 of them comes to €55,900. So Fianna Fail are giving away about €304,900. Now that would require 6,098 entries from people paying €50 quid for a ticket to break even if Fianna Fail were paying the money up front. €304,900 seems alot of money to have around after an election to buy some prizes.

I recall hearing that paying for organising an event, eg a dinner event, does not count as a donation for a political party. Maybe the same logic applies for the above. That said I’ve never come accros it in practice so maybe I misheard.
