Following up on his announcement to run for president in the USA, democratic hopeful Barack Obama has replaced his initial exploratory site with a much improved web 2.0 version featuring some especially heavy use of social networking software. One wonders how long before politicans get on the social networking bandwagon here…

As it has launched pretty much feature-complete and without any evident bugs, it’s obviously been waiting in the wings for quite some time as this kind of seamless well design software doesn’t just write itself. Barak himself discusses his vision for the website in this video. Hat tip to personaldemocracy.com.
The web site was devised and created by Blue State Digital - they’ve got a great piece on their homepage which states:
We work with Democratic candidates, progressive institutions, and corporations. We are partisan in the candidates we work with– we work with Democrats and progressive organizations. We look for opportunities and causes we believe in. We have a solid track record in helping Democratic candidates and organizations win.
There are sure to be more developments on the technological front from the far side of the pond but that is it for the minute.
