Tony Kileen

This is a story that we have not mentioned on this site for some reason. That of Clare TD Tony Kileen asking for early release for a convicted murderer. He claims that is was from his constituency office and he never saw it or had anything to do with it. This after he also pleaded for a child sex abuser which of course he also knew nothing about. His excuse is that his constituency office deals with loads of stuff he doesn’t see. Yet how many offices plead for these people?

Most TDs would sign every letter that goes out of their office personally. Many Ministers would sign every letter that goes from their office (as Minister) personally too. Killeen was negligent.

and why aren’t we voting for the office staff if they are doing the work instead of the TD?

Kileen sent a number of letters seeking the early release of a convicted murder (and also a paedophile).
I listened to the mother of the murdered man speaking on Marian Finucane’s programme this morning, and also on Morning Ireland earlier in the week. I have also heard Kileen’s pathetic excuses. If he had one ounce of the moral fibre which that brave lady has, he has not shown it. He will not phone her because “she may not answer the call.” He will not send her a letter because “she may not read it.” The man is a disgrace. Bad enough to make the representations but his failure to research the background of the case or speak to the victim’s family betrays his entirely mercenary and cavalier attitude to all concerned. The failure of virtually all politicians to respond appropriately to this issue betrays their lack of integrity.
    Kileen must resign.
