Bad Deasy.

With the amount of news around this, (here, here, here and p.ie have stuff here and here), is it time this got called a “-gate?” Deasygate perhaps? One of Fine Gael’s mantras is that they will fire people who do not perform as ministers. Would anyone consider Deasy not to be performing and in need of firing? Anyway, Enda has sent him a strongly worded letter for being a bold boy. That will show him. But one point is that in the eyes of many, Enda is weak; this seems to make him weaker still. Should he fire him or is it already to late for this? Also are Fine Gael messing themselves up? All the reports on this are coming from Fine Gael. Is airing their dirty laundry in public like this damaging them?

    Fire him from what?

He fecked up as Spokesperson for Justice, and was removed almost immediately. Throwing him out of the Parliamentary Party would be a tad excessive for being an idiot.

How much damage is this doing. Is it worth a seat? Also many people don’t think Enda has the stones to be toaiseach that he lacks leadership. Firing this guy would in my opinion do alot for his image.

I seem to recall that in a Sindo articlew on the Sunday after the 2002 General election Colm Toibín suggested Damien English as leader of Fine Gael. Enda Kenny got the job on that occasion though. At the time Ruairi Quinn proclaimed Labour as the real opposition henceforth.

Talk of leaders within Fine Gael is trite when the party is clearly devoid of any clear purpose or coherent identity.
